II MEETING ON PUBLIC QUESTION AND RELIGIOUS FACT (2011)



09/03/2011. Update the necessary basic knowledge of religious diversity and its implications for public administrations, this is one of the main objectives of the formative meeting on public question and religion held this Wednesday, March 9, at the Centro Joaquín Roncal of Zaragoza. The meeting, which was attended by about one hundred representatives of the regional administration and local authorities, has been coordinated by the direction General of participation citizen of the Government of Aragon, and has counted with the collaboration of the Aragonese Federation of municipalities, regions and provinces. The director general of citizen participation, Nacho Celaya, said in his speech that "we live in a secular State, but in a wonderfully variable society in the plural and the religious".

 

1This Wednesday, March 9, was held the second meeting of theoretical-practical on the 'Public concerned' and 'Religious fact' binomial. The appointment has been coordinated by the direction General of participation citizen of the Government of Aragon and has counted with the collaboration of the Aragonese Federation of municipalities, regions and provinces.

 

The event, which has been developed in the Centro Joaquín Roncal of Zaragoza, has provided a space for training, Exchange and common construction around the religious matters and has been formed by a theoretical framing with the main novelties existing in this matter; an exhibition of technical criteria for the management of religious diversity in some areas; and a reflection from concrete and good practices from some public administrations.

 

The general director of citizen participation, Nacho Celaya; the director of the Foundation of pluralism and coexistence, Manuel López; and the Secretary of the Aragonese Federation of municipalities, regions and provinces (FAMCP), Nicolas Martín, have been responsible for opening this meeting. "In his speech, Celaya has highlighted that"little by little is progress being made on an issue so fundamental and committed to the reality as it is the religious issue"and added live in a secular State, but in a wonderfully variable society in the plural and religion".

 

For his part, Martín Nicolas has ensured that "local governments are increasingly more involved in the integration and development of the rights and freedoms of the individual".During the day have been in common subjects and practical tools for religious diversity from the administrations and public services of proximity.

The director of the Foundation of pluralism and coexistence, Manuel López, has been commissioned to deliver opening keynote "the new reality of religious diversity in the Spanish State and its management systems: the Observatory of religious pluralism" and indicated in his speech that "religion is an issue of political responsibility because there is a new reality, and this reality is a factor that needs to be addressed".

 

 

"The governance of religious diversity from the administrations: technical criteria on information, attention and citizen participation" or the "governance of religious diversity from the administrations: technical criteria on the places of worship, power and social intervention", have been other conferences to which participants have been able to attend.
