Within the programme of support for child participation in the autonomous community of Aragon, the General direction of citizen participation, external action and cooperation held on 24 October the 1st Conference on the "Rights of the child, participation and society"


noticia-javier1Wednesday, October 24, the Government of Aragon, through the General Directorate for citizen participation, external action and cooperation, UNICEF and the Fundación Manuel Giménez Abad, organized in the Aljafería Palace (Cortes de Aragón) the 1st Conference on the "Rights of children, participation, and society", which registered 72 specialists of Aragon and other autonomous communities.


In this retreat was deepened in the international, national and regional context of children's rights, in the paradigm shift that has led to the Convention on rights of the child ratified by Spain in 1990, and in the transition from a purely protective approach to an approach to children's rights among which is one essential: the resale right, based on article no. 12 of the Convention.

Marta Arias (UNICEF Spain), Teresa Picontó (Universidad de Zaragoza - Faculty of law) and Fernando García (Justice of Aragon), were speakers of exception to reflect and further advances in the matter and the challenges that are still pending in the respect of the rights of children and their participation in today's society. In the afternoon, the day had an intense and complementary round table on policies and strategies for children and their effective participation in Aragon. Since the participation citizen, the gender, the protection of minors, education at the local level and health technicians from the Government of Aragon, of the Faculty of education in Huesca and Zaragoza medical school, shared developments, challenges and trends that can be seen as strategic in terms of child and adolescent participation.
